April 2023 - Summer is just around the corner so it’s time to start thinking about our new season wardrobes. We have brought together the key trends for this summer from across Fashion Weeks all over the globe, so you can bring some of the runway into your wardrobe this year. These are all trends with pieces you might already have in your wardrobe, they're all super easy to find in the second hand/thrifting world, or treat yourself to something new if that’s in your budget. No matter your budget or what you already have, fit these trends into your summer styling and you’ll be bang on trend this year.

Corsetry Inspired

First up we have anything corsetry inspired! We all know corset tops have been super popular over the last few years, and this year is no different. However, whilst corset tops are still definitely on trend, branching out into other areas of corsetry is certainly advised this year, too. Think corset dresses, jumpsuits, trousers and everything in between. Bonus points if these pieces are in stunning pastel shades! Not only are they on trend, but corsetry inspired clothing just gives the most flattering fit, whether it’s for a picnic in the park on a sunny day or a glam night out when you’re on a city break this summer.

Go Sheer

It’s time to dare to bare this summer as sheer has been all over Fashion Week! This is another trend that has been around for a good few seasons, and this summer is no different. Whether you wear a full sheer dress or you use sheer material to add a dramatic overlay to your lip dress, this is such a great way to layer and add detail to every type of outfit in the summer, whilst also staying nice and cool. Add a super sultry touch to your outfits this summer with sheer.

Cobalt Blue

We know bright colours are always in over the summer months, but this year a bright cobalt blue is really taking the spotlight. Last year bright pink was everywhere and this year we’ve gone to the other side of the colour wheel with blue hues dominating. This is such an easy trend to incorporate into your wardrobe, whether it’s a simple blue tank top, a daring cut out dress, a pair of statement earrings or anything in between. This is such a great colour for so many skin tones, it’s easy to style with other colours (go simple with creams or bold with bright pinks or oranges), and even if it’s not the most on trend next year, we know it’s always going to be around. Invest in a cobalt blue piece this year and get ready to wear and love for years.

Sequined Bags

If you’re wanting to find an on-trend accessory to add to your wardrobe this year, a sequined bag is undoubtedly the way to go. Transform any outfit in just a second with a sequined bag, whether it’s a glam party and you want to bring your little black dress to life, or you’re heading for brunch and want to jazz up your jeans and a nice top look. Ignore less is more this season, and get ready to go bold! In terms of colour, Fendi has gone for stunning green hues, whereas other designers have gone classic with stunning silver and gold shades. So, take a look at your bag collection and look for a missing gap colourwise! This could be a good opportunity to bring that touch of cobalt blue that is so on trend.

Low Rise

Last but not least, we have low rise bottoms. This is such a controversial one, but whether we like it or not, low rise jeans, skirts and trousers are back (whether they’re here to stay is another question). The easiest way to incorporate low rise into your wardrobe, which is also a super diverse way to do it, is with a low rise skirt. Denim or cargo would be great and also really on trend, then style with a longer top or go all out with a crop top. Your options are endless with this trend, so you can really fit it into your sense of style. This trend certainly isn’t for everyone, but give it a go when you’re next shopping and you might surprise yourself and find your big trend for the summer!

Final Thoughts

So, there you have it! With a few of these pieces in your wardrobe, you’ll be right on trend all summer long. Some pieces might not be around next summer (mostly low rise), but the majority are here to stay! So, get scrolling and shopping to find your newest obsessions for your summer wardrobe with the big trends from this year's Fashion Weeks.
