The Best Beaches of Tenerife, Spain

If you are traveling to the Canary Islands, do not pass up the opportunity to travel to Tenerife, Spain. Its reputation as a popular tourist destination is well deserved, especially if you are interested in visiting one of its many beaches.

Many travel agencies throughout Europe offer packages for these beaches, that are specially popular among British people.

Los Cristianos

While Los Cristianos is a smaller, quieter town than many of the larger tourist populations, it still has several beaches with wonderful attractions. The town itself is a little older, but no less scenic. Los Cristianos is nestled between two mountains, Chayofita and Guaza, and its town center is right off the bay. The two most popular beaches are Playa de Los Cristianos and Las Vistas Beach. Playa de los Cristianos is the more popular of the two, and features several attractions including a number of watersports, including surfing and fishing, showers, volleyball nets, an area for children to play. Las Vistas Beach is smaller and man-made, but no less entertaining. It also features water sports, showers, and an information center for tourists.

Costa Adeje

For those looking for a more exclusive, relaxing experience, Playa del Duque, in Costa Adeje, is most likely your best choice. The beach is part of a private resort, and attached to it is the Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque Resort. The resort itself boasts one of the finest beaches in Tenerife! The sand is nearly white, well cared for, and lovely to spend a day on. Fanabe Beach is another popular beach in Adeje, and it frequently wins awards for its services and cleanliness. It has a top rated services and extremely clean water, and is one of the best family beaches in Tenerife.

Playa de las Americas

Apart from being the center of nightlife in Tenerife, Playa de las Americas has plenty of small beaches, most of them man-made, with white and black sand. Compostela Beach is an excellent choice for water sports, or if you want to kill some time before going back into the city for the evening. There are a number of clubs, hotels and restaurants just off the shore, so you will not have to travel far when you are finished with the sun and waves. Of course, the numerous small beaches vary in quality, but most are fine if you want to spend a simple day in the sun.
