Henry Horne, was butler to the rector of St Stephen's Church, , Lincolnshire. His employer John Birch Reynardson was
from an affluent family and was in post for 70 years. On 6th November 1862 the rector married Sophy, second daughter of General E.B. Wynyard,
C.B. of Chester- street (The Gentlemen's Magazine July-Dec 1862, p.772) and they had a number of children.
Henry Horne (1844-1927) was born in Combe, Oxfordshire. His father was probably Edmund Horne (1823-1901), a painter, although Henry's marriage certificate
gives the name as Edwin, mother Eliza Huckins (1825- ).
In 1875 at St James West End, Southampton, Henry married Elizabeth Barber (1844-1933) who was born in South Stonham,
Hampshire to William Barber and Susannah Smoker (1805- ). William and Susannah also had a son James and a daughter Clara.
Henry and Elizabeth had three children: Elizabeth (1876-1952), Ellen Alexander (1878-1938) and Henry Frank
(1880-1941). In the 1901 census Henry is recorded at the rectory and Elizabeth is with the children at The Cottage, Church Road, Careby (No. 16
on old parish records). According to oral evidence from their grandson Kenneth Gillett Walter, they owned this cottage and it was sold on their deaths.
Elizabeth married Edward Ernest Walter in 1905 (see
. Ellen Alexander married Reginald Pearse in 1914. Henry Frank married Aida Hipwell
in 1921.
